As we dive into the new year, we’d like to remind you of the incredible resources and opportunities available to students through SAEON’s Graduate Student Network (GSN). Whether you’re starting your academic journey or looking to sharpen your skills, the GSN is here to support and empower you.

The GSN is dedicated to equipping students with the tools they need to succeed. We provide access to a variety of beginner courses in R, Python and GIS, perfect for those looking to explore data analysis and geospatial applications. Additionally, we offer open-source resources that can enhance your professional and academic pursuits, including:

  • Creating engaging PowerPoint presentations
  • Writing for scientific publications
  • Guidelines for effective public engagement 

These resources are tailored to help students excel in their fields while fostering a deeper understanding of the tools and techniques critical for success.

Students can join the GSN (Graduate Student Network) through SAEON, a dynamic platform for postgraduate students in environmental science. Membership is open to Honours, Master’s and PhD students, offering access to training opportunities, research support and mentorship.
