The winners of the 2023–2024 NSTF–South32 Awards were announced on 12 July on page 2 of a special Mail & Guardian supplement dedicated to the awards. SAEON’s uLwazi Node won the Data for Research Award.
On page 7, the Mail & Guardian supplement also carried an article on the uLwazi Node and its achievements, titled Custodians of Earth’s digital heartbeat.
On July 12, Engineering News published an article titled NRF environmental data node wins prestigious award, stating that the uLwazi Node has become an “essential platform providing environmental data to researchers, policymakers and the public”.
